Nomenclatural History	The species Bacteroides intermedius was originally described and validly published by Johnson and Holdeman 1983. Johnson and Holdeman elevated the subspecies Bacteroides melaninogenicus intermedius Holdeman and Moore 1970 (Approved Lists 1980) to the rank of species to form this name in 1983. In 1990, Shah and Collins established Bacteroides intermedius as the basonym of Prevotella intermedia (Holdeman and Moore 1970) Shah and Collins 1990 emend. Hahnke et al. 2016 .
