Nomenclatural History	The species Flexibacter aurantiacus was originally described by Lewin 1969. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Bernardet et al. established this name as a later heterotypic synonym of Cytophaga johnsonae Stanier 1947 (Approved Lists 1980) in 1996. In 2019, García-López et al. reduced this species to the rank of subspecies to form Flavobacterium johnsoniae aurantiacum (Lewin 1969) García-López et al. 2020 .
