Nomenclatural History
This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 31 in 1989. The species Flexibacter filiformis was originally described by Solntseva 1940. It pre-dated the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names but was excluded from those lists. In 1989 the name was revived by Reichenbach. In 2006, Kämpfer et al. established as the basonym of (Reichenbach 1989) Kämpfer et al. 2006 .
