Nomenclatural History

The genus Bacterionema was originally proposed by Gilmour et al. 1961. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Gilmour published an emended description of this genus in 1974. Collins transferred the members of this genus into
Corynebacterium Lehmann and Neumann 1896 (Approved Lists 1980) emend. Baek et al. 2018
in 1982.
