The genus Lucibacterium was originally proposed by Hendrie et al. 1970. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Baumann et al. transferred the members of this genus into
Vibrio Pacini 1854 emend. Shewan and Veron 1974 (Approved Lists 1980)
in 1980.
