Nomenclatural History

The species Bacillus axarquiensis was originally described and validly published by Ruiz-García et al. 2005. Dunlap et al. published an emended description of this species in 2016. Dunlap et al. established this name as an earlier heterotypic synonym of
Bacillus malacitensis Ruiz-García et al. 2005
in 2016. Dunlap et al. established this name as a later heterotypic synonym of
Brevibacterium halotolerans Delaporte and Sasson 1967 (Approved Lists 1980)
in 2016.
Dunlap et al. 2016 asserts that Bacillus axarquiensis is not a heterotypic synonym of Bacillus mojavensis. This opinion disagrees with that of Wang et al. 2007.
