Nomenclatural History
The subspecies Photorhabdus luminescens luminescens was originally described and validly published by Fischer-Le Saux et al. 1999. In 1999, Fischer-Le Saux et al. reduced (Thomas and Poinar 1979) Boemare et al. 1993 emend. Machado et al. 2019 to the rank of subspecies.

Machado et al. 2019 later attempted to publish this coordinate status subspecies.
