The species Desulfovibrio termitidis was originally described by Trinkerl et al. 1990. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 36 in 1991. In 2020, Waite et al. established as the basonym of (Trinkerl et al. 1991) Waite et al. 2020 pro synon. Cupidesulfovibrio termitidis (Trinkerl et al. 1991) Wan et al. 2021 . In 2021, Wan et al. established as the basonym of (Trinkerl et al. 1991) Wan et al. 2021 .
