Nomenclatural History
The subspecies Halanaerobium saccharolyticum saccharolyticum was originally described by Rainey et al. 1995. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 55 in 1995. Oren corrected this name from (sic) to . Rainey et al. formed this name in 1995 by placing the subspecies corrig. (Zhilina et al. 1992) Cayol et al. 1994 into the species corrig. (Zhilina et al. 1992) Rainey et al. 1995 (sic) (Zhilina et al. 1992) Rainey et al. 1995. In 1995, Rainey et al. reduced corrig. (Zhilina et al. 1992) Rainey et al. 1995 to the rank of subspecies.
