Nomenclatural History
The species Bacillus azotoformans was originally described by Pichinoty et al. 1976. It pre-dated the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names but was excluded from those lists. In 1983 the name was revived and validly published by Pichinoty et al.. In 2020, Gupta et al. established as the basonym of (Pichinoty et al. 1983) Gupta et al. 2020 . In 2020, Adiguzel et al. established as the basonym of (Pichinoty et al. 1983) Adiguzel et al. 2020 pro synon. Schinkia azotoformans (Pichinoty et al. 1983) Gupta et al. 2020 .
