Nomenclatural History
The subspecies Staphylococcus equorum equorum was originally described by Schleifer et al. 1984. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 17 in 1985. In 2003, Place et al. reduced Schleifer et al. 1985 emend. Jeong et al. 2013 to the rank of subspecies. Jeong et al. transferred the members of Place et al. 2003 into this subspecies in 2013.
