In 1965, Abo-Elnaga and Kandler reduced Lactobacillus coryniformis Abo-Elnaga and Kandler 1965 (Approved Lists 1980) to the rank of subspecies. In 2020, Zheng et al. established Lactobacillus coryniformis coryniformis as the basonym of Loigolactobacillus coryniformis coryniformis (Abo-Elnaga and Kandler 1965) Zheng et al. 2020 .
