Nomenclatural History
This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 22 in 1986. The species Streptomyces flaviscleroticus was originally described by Pridham 1970. It pre-dated the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names but was excluded from those lists. In 1986 the name was revived by Goodfellow et al.. Goodfellow et al. established as a later homotypic synonym of Thirumalachar and Sukapure 1964 (Approved Lists 1980) in 1986. Lanoot et al. established this name as a later heterotypic synonym of (Thirumalachar et al. 1965) Pridham 1970 (Approved Lists 1980) emend. Lanoot et al. 2005 pro synon. Chainia minutisclerotica Thirumalachar et al. 1965 (Approved Lists 1980) in 2005.
