Nomenclatural History

The subspecies Acetobacter xylinus sucrofermentans was originally described by Toyosaki et al. 1995. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 58 in 1996. Euzéby corrected this name from Acetobacter xylinum sucrofermentans (sic) to Acetobacter xylinus sucrofermentans . Cleenwerck et al. elevated this subspecies to the rank of species to form the name
Gluconacetobacter sucrofermentans (Toyosaki et al. 1996) Cleenwerck et al. 2010
in 2010.
