The subspecies Clavibacter michiganense nebraskense was originally described and validly published by Davis et al. 1984. Zgurskaya et al. corrected this name from Clavibacter michiganense nebraskense (sic) to Clavibacter michiganensis nebraskensis . Davis et al. formed this name in 1984 by placing the subspecies
Corynebacterium michiganense nebraskense (Vidaver and Mandel 1974) Carlson and Vidaver 1982
into the species Clavibacter michiganense (sic) (Smith 1910) Davis et al. 1984 emend. Nouioui et al. 2018Clavibacter michiganensis corrig. (Smith 1910) Davis et al. 1984 emend. Nouioui et al. 2018. Li et al. elevated this subspecies to the rank of species to form the name
Clavibacter nebraskensis (Vidaver and Mandel 1974) Nouioui et al. 2018
in 2018.
