Nomenclatural History
The species Tannerella forsythia was originally described and validly published by Sakamoto et al. 2002. This name was affected by Judicial Opinion 85 in 2008. Judicial Commision of the International Committee on Systematics of Prokaryotes corrected this name from (sic) to . Sakamoto et al. formed this name in 2002 by placing the species Tanner et al. 1986 into the genus Sakamoto et al. 2002 emend. Ansbro et al. 2020.
