The subspecies Paraclostridium bifermentans bifermentans was originally described by Kutsuna et al. 2019. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 187 in 2019. In 2019, Kutsuna et al. reduced (Weinberg and Séguin 1918) Sasi Jyothsna et al. 2016 emend. Kutsuna et al. 2019 to the rank of subspecies.
