The species Paralactobacillus selangorensis was originally described and validly published by Zheng et al. 2020. Zheng et al. formed this name in 2020 by placing the species (Leisner et al. 2000) Haakensen et al. 2011 into the genus Leisner et al. 2000 emend. Zheng et al. 2020.

This name is an illegitimate later homonym of Paralactobacillus selangorensis Leisner et al. 2000.
