Nomenclatural History
The species Serpula innocens was originally described and validly published by Stanton et al. 1991. Stanton et al. formed this name in 1991 by placing the species Kinyon and Harris 1979 (Approved Lists 1980) into the genus Hovind-Hougen et al. 1983. In 1992, Stanton established as the basonym of (Kinyon and Harris 1979) Stanton 1992 .
